Marise & Conor

Here are some photos from an engagement shoot we did for our dear friends Marise and Conor. I have known Marise for most of my life, so this photoshoot was a special one. They are such a beautiful couple and we are so excited for them to start their life together. They are getting married in May 2013.

A few weeks ago we drove up to Merrickville with my mom and brother Alex. We love day trips and Merrickville is one of our go-to places. We took the back roads to get there, taking our time to enjoy the scenery. In Merrickville we walked around, visited a few shops and then had lunch at our favourite spot, Gad's Hill. They make the most amazing sticky pudding. We also took the time to visit the ruins and made sure to stock up on fresh fudge before heading home.

Thanksgiving this year was quiet and simple, just the way we like it. We took a walk in the woods to collect things for a fall centerpiece. It was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. When we got back we enjoyed a pot of tea by the fire. We had a traditional turkey supper and the best apple and pumpkin pies, made from scratch by my brother Alex. It was nice to spend the day surrounded by family... Something we are thankful for every day of the year.

October mornings are beautiful. Quiet and grey.

The weekend was wonderful. We spent time with family and did the Apples & Art studio tour.  It was really great seeing so many local artists. We look forward to this weekend every year... It always leaves us feeling inspired and motivated to keep doing what we love.

This summer our beautiful friend Gen, who currently lives in Australia, came to Canada for a few weeks to visit family and friends. It meant so much to us that she could be there for our wedding! We had the chance to do a quick photoshoot with her before she left to go back to Australia. We feel so blessed to have been able to spend time with her this summer. We miss you already Gen!

When the days start to cool down, we tend to spend more time outdoors. During the fall, our Sunday afternoons usually involve nature walks with the family and exploring new areas outside of the city.

Our honeymoon was the first trip we ever took together, so it was really special for us. We decided to visit the Magdalen Islands since we heard it was one of the most beautiful spots in Canada, and there was no way I would be flying anywhere. Our 19 hour train to New Brunswick was quite the experience.

Our time on the islands happened to be right before tourist season, and although we weren't prepared for the cold temperatures, it was so nice to have all the beaches and beautiful spots to ourselves. We spent most of our time exploring, beach combing, taking pictures and eating good food. We came back to our Inn every night, legs tired, bellies full, and happy to be crawling in our nice, warm bed.

We loved our honeymoon and can't wait to plan our next trip together.
